يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
The Quran is the words of Allah Ta’ala and through it He communicates to us. Ali RA used to say: ‘When I want to speak to Allah, I pray salah and when I want Allah to speak to me, I recite the Quran’.
We should strive in understanding the speech of Allah. We will then realise the beauty of the Quran and the zeal to acquire knowledge will increase. Uthman RA used to say: ‘If our hearts are pure, we will never feel that we are getting enough of the Quran, we will always want more’.
At the very least we should study the ayahs in which Allah Ta’ala addresses us directly, this is a privilege. There are around 90 ayahs in which Allah says, O Believers!
Once a person asked Abdullah ibn Masood RA for advice to which he replied: ‘When you come across an ayah saying O Believers then open your ears and focus on what Allah is saying because Allah is speaking to you directly. Every time these ayahs are read, the hair on your body should stand out of awe that Allah The Almighty is addressing us’.
Note! Starting from 8th October 2021, Shaykh Saleem Nawab will be discussing one of the calls of Allah every week in his Jumuah speech. The Audio is available on the Jumuah bayans page. A dedicated page is also available called ‘O Believers!‘. It will contain the audio along with a written summary. We pray to Allah Almighty for the good health of Shaykh. We pray that Allah Almighty allows it to complete and it is of great benefit to the Ummah.
