After Tarawih Bayan 31-03-23

🔸 Ramadhan is a unique month; it is the only month mentioned by name in the Quran. We are in the second set of 10 days in Ramadhan (The days of maghrifah, forgiveness from Allah). We are to increase in seeking forgiveness from Allah in these ten days.

🔸 When Surah Nasr was revealed instructing to seek forgiveness; فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّابًا ‘Then, pronounce the purity and praise of your Lord, and seek forgiveness from Him. Surely, He is Ever-Relenting’

Rasulullah ﷺ started to read the following in his ruku and sajdah:سُبحَانَكَ رَبّنَا وَ بِحَمدِكَ اللّهُمَ اغفِرلى

🔸 Allama Binnori r.a used to read the following in his ruku and sajdah of nafl salah as these are four mentioned in hadith:

لا إله إلا الله – أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللّٰه – أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ – وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ

EXAMPLE OF FORGIVNESS

Abu Bakr r.a used to financially help his relative Mistah ibn Uthatha r.a who was poor. Mistah r.a inadvertently got involved in slandering Aisha r.a (incident of ifk). When Abu Bakr r.a found out, he was angry and made an oath that he would no longer give him aid. Allah ﷻ then revealed the following ayah:

وَلَا يَأْتَلِ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْفَضْلِ مِنكُمْ وَٱلسَّعَةِ أَن يُؤْتُوٓا۟ أُو۟لِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينَ وَٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَلْيَعْفُوا۟ وَلْيَصْفَحُوٓا۟ ۗ أَلَا تُحِبُّونَ أَن يَغْفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌ ٢٢

The men of grace and wealth among you should not swear against giving (their charitable gifts) to the kinsmen and the poor and to those who have migrated in the way of Allah, and they should forgive and forego. Do you not like that Allah forgives you? Allah is Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful. [24:22]

Allah ﷻ is advising Abu Bakr r.a that he should forgive and not stop giving, because Mistah r.a is a relative, a poor and a muhajir.

Zaynab, the daughter of Rasulullah ﷺ, was attacked by Hubbar ibn Al-Aswad. As a result, she lost her unborn child. During the conquest of Makkah, he sought Rasulullah’s ﷺ forgiveness. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ forgave him and moreover instructed the companions not to say anything to him. Look at the level of forgiveness despite the loss to his family.

In Taif, Rasulullah ﷺ was attacked so bad that his shoes were blooded, yet he forgave them.

EXCELLENCE OF FORGIVNESS

The disbelievers of Makkah demanded the miracle for the moon to split to accept Islam. So, it happened but, they did not believe. Stones in Makkah used to recite the kalimah and salaam Rasulullah ﷺ yet they did not believe. The disbelievers saw the help of angels in battle of Badr, yet they did not believe. In Khandaq, they saw the help of Allah coming down, yet they did not believe.

When did they believe? When Rasulullah ﷺ held the doors of the Ka’bah and said; You are all free today and you are forgiven. This is how people come into Islam. It is through character and kindness. The softness of being a forgiving individual really goes far.

Allah gives, gives and forgives. Man gets, gets and forgets.

If we want Allah the Most Merciful to forgive us in these special days, then we should be people with a forgiving heart. Remember, when you forgive others, it is you that benefits because forgiveness leads to a peaceful heart, do not hold back, forgive all and Allah will forgive you too.
